Hi, I'm Tina, from NSW Australia. I am a wife to 1 husband and a stay at home mama to 5 babes. This is my original "mummified times five" blog. Stay for a while :)
Although Halloween isn’t that popular in Australia, there is some interest in the holiday and it’s easy to find decorations and supplies to set the mood.
The last few years, a group of the local kids have started dressing up and with some of us adults supervising, they go trick or treating.
But it seems that the locals are not interested in having kids knocking on their doors and calling “trick or treat!”. The kids have even been subjected to doors being slammed in their faces and people yelling, “We don’t celebrate that here!”.
So we started talking about holding a Halloween party at our house so the kids have somewhere safe that they can come and have some Halloween fun. But the problem is, each time Halloween comes around, we’re either too busy or our finances won’t allow a party.
As Halloween nears, I’ve already explained to the kids that this big party won’t happen this year but I have promised with a “cross my heart, hope to die” that we will have this party next year.
I’ve worked out how much I can put away each fortnight to save up for it and I’ve even looked at Halloween invitations and decorations online to see what’s available.
Oh, and if the neighbours expect an invitation, all they’ll be getting is a slammed door in their face…..OK, not really but you know what I mean…lol
I always worry that my laptop might “die” and I will lose all the photos that I have saved on it so I’m often making sure the photos are organised and saved onto dvds as a back up.
I try to upload photos from the compact flash card every couple of days.
In my “pictures” folder, I have a folder for each year. Inside “2008″, I then have 12 folders for each month of the year. These I name 2008_Jan, etc. Then inside those folders, I have the photos saved in folders named with the date that the photos were taken because I don’t have the date setting turned on when I take photos.
At the end of each month, I add that month’s folder to the re-writable dvd so my pictures are safe.
There’s probably an easier way to keep photos organised but this is what works for me
I love watching the Olympics. Every time the games are on, our television stays on Prime, and we don’t bother watching any other shows.
This morning, as I’m sitting here blogging with the baby asleep on the couch next to me, the horse riding cross country is on and previous to that, I was watching dressage. I love the equestrian clothing that the riders wear. They all look so smart.
My favourite events would have to be swimming, track and field and gymnastics although I do watch almost all of it.
The last couple of nights I haven’t been able to sleep so while DH and the baby have been laying in bed with me, snoring their heads off, I’ve been watching the games. I don’t usually like watching sports but the Olympics is an exception.
I think some people think that I don’t look in the mirror and see that I am overweight. I KNOW how I look right now. I KNOW that I have put on weight.
I DON’T need you to tell me that I’ve gotten bigger (especially when I haven’t seen you in ages) and I certainly don’t need you telling me that I can get Phentermine without prescription.
I’m going through a bit of a tough time right now and while losing weight should be one of my priorities, I have other things that are more important.
Oh and by the way, I may be fat, and I can lose the weight. But you’ll be a b!tch always.
You would think that if you’re having trouble seeing the computer screen or seeing the television screen or seeing the words written on the school notes that the kids bring home, then you would wear the eyeglasses that the optometrist prescribed for you so you CAN see.
But Nooooooooooooo!
The stubborn man that I am married to refuses to wear his eyeglasses because he thinks they make him old - even though I’m telling him that they make him look sexy! *rolling eyes*
